Award Process

This award process was created in 2007 by Breaking Down Barriers in order to acknowledge the contributions of consumers, businesses, community partners and volunteers who have left a lasting impression on our organization. They have shown leadership in making the independence of people with disabilities attainable and achievable in the Georgian Triangle area.

The award categories are as follows:

• Thumbs Up Access and Awareness Award
• Community Partner Award
• Barb Meacher Memorial Award
• Pat McElroy Award for Volunteer Excellence
• Shirley Fasken Service Award for Board of Directors
• Distinguished Employer of the Year Award
• Distinguished Athlete of the Year Award
